STRAIGHT TRUCK TRANSPORTATION
Box truck freight shipping with the right equipment.
Box truck shipping, using a box truck or straight truck, can bridge the gap between a cargo van and a full tractor-trailer. It is often worth evaluating for regional deliveries, a moderate number of pallets, or sites with limited space.
Box truck freight planned around your shipment
The words ‘box truck’ do not tell the whole story. Vehicle interior dimensions, usable payload, door opening, dock height and optional liftgate capability must match the cargo and the delivery location.
Common reasons shippers use box truck shipping
Warehouse-to-store replenishment
Coordinate commercial inventory deliveries where a full-size semi may be unnecessary or the receiving facility has tighter access.
Crated equipment and materials
Move commercial crates, packaged machinery or supplies that fit within straight-truck weight and dimension limits.
Sites without conventional docks
When ground-level delivery is required, confirm the heaviest piece and whether a liftgate and pallet jack are practical.
Box truck details that make a difference
Liftgate capacity
Liftgates have their own rated capacities and platform sizes. A heavy pallet or oversize crate may not be suitable.
Dock compatibility
Straight trucks differ from tractor-trailers in bed height and loading configuration. Verify the shipper and receiver setups.
Dimensions versus legal payload
A vehicle may have enough space but not sufficient legal carrying capacity. Both conditions need to be satisfied.
What to include in a box truck quote request
Sending complete shipment details helps us evaluate appropriate capacity and avoids unnecessary back-and-forth. Include as much of the following as you have:
- Box or pallet measurements and total cargo weight
- Heaviest individual piece or pallet weight
- Pickup and delivery location and site access
- Dock-to-dock, ground loading or liftgate needs
- Date, receiving window and appointment details
- Whether the shipment requires a dedicated vehicle

Box truck freight FAQs
Is every 26-foot box truck the same?
No. Inside length, payload, opening dimensions and liftgate equipment vary by truck. We confirm the relevant specifications for your load.
Can a box truck deliver without a loading dock?
Sometimes, with an appropriate liftgate and safe receiving area. Cargo weight, platform size and site conditions need to be confirmed first.
When should I use a dry van instead?
If freight exceeds straight-truck capacity or a full truckload is operationally more suitable, a 53-foot dry van may be the better solution.
